Reusable filter elements
Mott filter elements can be effectively cleaned and reused in many installations for permanent filtration. This can be accomplished using a blowback cleaning system for gas applications or a backwash system for liquid applications. Mott’s engineers have extensive experience in designing and building such cleaning systems. Examples of these process filters include LSI filters for liquid and solid applications and GSV filters for gas and solid applications. Contamination can also be removed chemically using solvents, caustic cleaning, acid cleaning, as well as water, steam and air flushing. Ultrasonic cleaning is used to remove chemically inert materials. In addition, controlled atmosphere fluidization furnaces can be used. Mott’s porous metal filter elements can be cleaned and used continuously for years, while other filter types would need to be replaced several times.
High resistance to corrosion
Although 316L stainless steel is the most common material of construction, Mott’s filter elements are available in several different materials tailored for chemical compatibility with various liquids and gases. Other materials available include: 304L, 310, 347 and 430 stainless steel; Hastelloy® B, B-2, C-22, C276, N and X; Inconel® 600, 625 and 690; Monel® 400, Nickel 200, Alloy 20 and titanium.
